hi.

I hope you are doing ok.

It’s been pretty rough for me, lately. I am still working on navigating the house because of the asphalt dust put into the air by the roofing job- I don’t have to wear a respirator anymore, which is a step, but with carpet, it’s just difficult to deal with. Someday I need to live somewhere with hard floors.

I also intentionally disconnected my old internet to create new service in my name, thinking the new modem they sent would be the same as the old one, but it isn’t. It has rubber feet, and they aren’t able to tell me if the feet have latex in them or not, so I ended up having to order my own modem. So it’s been about two weeks that my phone has been my only internet.

I found a song that I thought was beautiful and I wanted to share it (@ladymooncries):

I wrote this a few weeks ago.

joy compensates

maybe joy is the buoy that keeps us from drowning

and keeps us reaching towards staying alive

when the darkness would swallow us whole

maybe joy isn’t happiness

maybe it’s the tickle of being alive

it’s the perversity and the humor

it’s finding the fun in it

the “spoonful of sugar”

it isn’t winning, or achieving metrics

it’s finding the fun. it is the fun. joy is the fun. a light that won’t be dimmed.

It’s difficult for me to sometimes get a clear picture of what I want to create, because of my desire to encourage people, which doesn’t always feel “authentic” when I’m feeling down. So if my posts seem a bit odd, that’s why. I’ve had several writing locations for different types of posts for a while, and am sort of experimenting with what I want this place to be.

The one thing I want to always be, no matter what, is genuine and sincere. I’m not perfect at that but it’s a goal I strive for, in my self presentation, communication and relationships.

I made this little guy tonight. I tried making several other things first but ended up just wanting to create something familiar.

PS

If you haven’t listened to A Christmas Carol (Dickens) yet this season, this one was fantastic.

Patrick Stewart could read a cookbook and make it fascinating so… anyway it’s amazing of course. His snoring and chime singing were particularly memorable and I have never quite had the same sensation with the …initial visiting. 🔔
